We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Cable Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Cable Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry, possess strong technical skills, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering quality work.Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Perform cable routing, pulling, and dressing activities to ensure proper cable management and organization.
- Conduct fiber optic cable testing, including optical power measurements, loss testing, and troubleshooting of connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and execute installations accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of cable installations, terminations, and test results.
- Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic cable faults, conducting repairs and replacement as necessary.
- Operate and maintain fiber optic tools and equipment, ensuring proper care and adherence to safety protocols.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to fiber optic cable installation and maintenance.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and material inventory.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma; Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a Fiber Cable Technician or in a similar role within the telecommunications industry.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable installation, termination, and testing techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as TIA/EIA, ANSI, and OSP requirements.
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic tools and equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
- Basic understanding of networking principles and protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces, if required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
