The RN ICU performs a range of duties including assessing, planning, implementing care and interventions for neonatal patients, carrying out physician orders, assisting physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures, administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, monitoring vital signs, and serving as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nResponsibilities:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Assess, plan, and implement care and interventions in addressing the problems of the neonate.<\/li>\n
- Carry out physician orders and assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.<\/li>\n
- The administrator prescribed medications, changed dressings, cleaned wounds, and monitor vital signs.<\/li>\n
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.<\/li>\n
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.<\/li>\n
- Instruct and educate patients and families.<\/li>\n
- Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.<\/li>\n
- Provide age and culturally appropriate care.<\/li>\n
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment for at-risk infants.<\/li>\n
- Orient and mentor new staff members.<\/li>\n
- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Education: ADN required; BSN preferred.<\/li>\n
- Licenses and Certifications: Current\u00a0 Licensure as a Registered Nurse (Compact license is accepted but\u00a0 RN license required within 30 days of hire), Current ACLS and BLS.<\/li>\n
- Experience: Must have at least 3 years of nursing experience, with ICU experience of at least 2 years and recent acute care experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
