Your work will contribute to the building structural mass spectrometry capabilities to support antibody discovery for multispan membrane protein targets.

  • Develop cross linking (XL) and covalent labelling mass spectrometry (CLMS) based methods to study multispan membrane target interactions in a cellular environment.
    • Evaluate different crosslinkers and their suitability to mapping epitopes of soluble protein targets.
    • Develop diethylpyrocarbonate (DEPC) based or similar CLMS methods to study protein: antibody and protein/ protein interaction.
    • Apply optimized CLMS and XLMS methods directly in cells.
    • Expand applicability of these methods to multispan membrane targets to determine epitopes and protein interaction landscape.
  • Working environment:
    • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who can quickly identify key strategies and resources to accomplish research goals.
    • Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced and cross functional team.
    • Position requires the ability to partner with mass spectrometry, membrane protein antibody discovery and protein characterization teams across Lilly.
    • Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry or related field with experience in protein mass spectrometry.

Additional Information

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.

Additional Skills/PreferencesIf you are described with these skills, you could be a great fit for the role:

  • Experience with peptide mapping and analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with Thermo and Waters mass spectrometry instrumentation is preferred.
  • Experience with cell culture, membrane proteins and protein biochemistry will be beneficial.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting
